Former Apple iOS engineer Sid Gandhi has unveiled the Payy Visa card, a privacy-centric payment solution three years in development. The card leverages zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) and a custom-built ledger to obscure stablecoin transactions, addressing concerns about traceability on public blockchains.

Gandhi, now CEO of Polybase Labs, criticized existing on-chain financial services as "irresponsible" and "borderline illegal" under GDPR regulations due to their permanent public transaction visibility. "You can't build a financial system without confidentiality," he asserted during an interview.

The team bypassed EVM-compatible chains to create a dedicated LAYER 2 payments network, citing their incompatibility with private transactions. Gandhi warned of a dystopian future where blockchain wallets could be linked to IP addresses and social media profiles.
